Fall Into the Season
I love fall. The color of the leaves changing, the football games, the decorations, and the drinks. Yes, I said drinks. I am one of those people that love pumpkin anything. I have even tried pumpkin soup. I love pumpkin lattes, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin seeds.
I grew up going to high school football games. I would hang out with the band at the game. I wasn't in band, but some of my closest friends were. So, during those high school games, I would watch the home game on Friday nights.
Sunday's were made for NFL games. We would have a family dinner with my brother driving over an hour with his children and wife. My parents would make a huge dinner and all of us would sit around the table catching up. After dinner, my mom, sister-in-law, and my sister would play Yahtzee or cards while my brother and dad would be in the living room watching the game.
The smells of fall. I can still smell the pumpkin roll in the oven. I started making pumpkin rolls about twenty years ago. Now my oldest daughter will make them. Every year we make about three of them and sometimes even freeze them. One year we even gave them out as Christmas gifts. The smell of the spices baking and the sweet taste. Ooh, makes me remember the taste of my husband's Grandma's apple loaf. Is there anything better than the smell of homemade bread or sweets in the oven?
What season is your favorite? Do you have a favorite smell?
